ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT · LAST UPDATED AUGUST 1, 2026

BLACK OWNED HERE. is being built toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA and practical use across keyboard, touch, zoom, reduced motion, and assistive technology. This is a continuing goal, not a claim that every page, contributed asset, browser, or third-party service is free of barriers.

Accessibility built into the service

  • Semantic headings, landmarks, labels, status messages, and a skip-to-content link.
  • Visible keyboard focus and keyboard-operable menus, forms, dialogs, and controls.
  • Reduced-motion behavior for the introduction, map, route transitions, and ambient animation.
  • A searchable state and territory list alongside the interactive map, with all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands available.
  • Mobile reflow, readable form controls, touch targets, and text-resize support.
  • Human review of public listing content and media, including meaningful alternative text where an image conveys information.
  • Automated accessibility checks plus focused Chromium and WebKit regression tests.

Known boundaries

The interactive map is visually complex, so an equivalent searchable geography list is provided. Owner-submitted media and descriptions may require correction during review. External business websites, social networks, ordering, booking, mapping, and other linked services are controlled by third parties and may not meet the same accessibility standard. Authentication, browser file pickers, and email clients can also behave differently by platform.

Request help or report a barrier

Email support@blackownedhere.com or use the contact form. Include the page or feature, what you were trying to do, the barrier encountered, and—if you are comfortable sharing it—the browser, device, and assistive technology used. Do not include passwords, access tokens, or unrelated sensitive information.

Reports are reviewed and prioritized based on impact and safety. A specific repair or response deadline is not guaranteed. When practical, the support team will help locate an available alternative for the requested information or task while a barrier is being evaluated.

Ongoing review

New and changed interactions are expected to preserve keyboard access, focus order, screen-reader names, contrast, reduced motion, reflow, and mobile usability. Material known limitations and substantive changes to this statement will be dated here.
