ABOUT BLACK OWNED HERE.
Built for discovery.
BLACK OWNED HERE. exists to make Black-owned businesses easier to discover—state by state, city by city, and community by community. Every state and territory is on the map: all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Who is responsible
BLACK OWNED HERE. is operated by Roger Mitchell. The platform identifies its operator publicly so listing decisions, editorial standards, privacy requests, security reports, and support have an accountable destination.
Starting in Hampton Roads. Built for America.
Hampton Roads, Virginia is the founding operating region: a practical place to prove owner intake, human review, local search, corrections, and support. The directory’s geography is national from the start, and expansion depends on real, reviewed listings rather than fabricated coverage.
What we believe
- Discovery matters because business visibility shapes where money, attention, and opportunity move.
- Accurate ownership information matters because no business should be labeled by assumption.
- Businesses should control their own listings, corrections, media, categories, and service areas.
- The platform will not identify ownership based on appearance, names, photographs, or demographics.
- National reach and local relevance must work together for discovery to be useful.
How listings get here
- Community members can give us one public clue. Our research system publishes only after deterministic identity, ownership-evidence, link, category, and duplicate gates pass.
- Owners can claim the existing page, verify their relationship, and control exact public details without rebuilding the listing. Owners may request correction, withdrawal, or unpublication.
- Trust labels are never sold. Payment cannot change ownership status, review outcome, verification, or organic credibility; any future paid placement must be plainly labeled.
- We never copy another directory or fabricate listings, counts, or reviews. Empty pages stay honest until real evidence supports a business.
